The Breakaway Disciplines: Solitude
What is solitude? Solitude is the temporary withdrawal to uninterrupted time to be alone with God.
Three Aspects of Solitude
1. Waiting on the LORD
Lamentations 3:25-28 ESV
The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him. 26 It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord. 27 It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth. 28 Let him sit alone in silence when it is laid on him;
2. Resting in the LORD
Mark 6:31-32 ESV
And he said to them, “Come away by yourselves to a desolate place and rest a while.” For many were coming and going, and they had no leisure even to eat. 32 And they went away in the boat to a desolate place by themselves.
Residing with the LORD
Mark 1:35 ESV
And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed.
