JESUS FOLLOWER (Week 1 of 9) Jan 10: "What Is a Jesus Follower?" (Hoffmann)
This talk defines and begins to explore what a Jesus follower is as one who loves God and loves others, by abiding in relationship with Jesus and through the Holy Spirit, imitating His life and His mission. This week's talk focuses on the why.
WHAT IS A JESUS FOLLOWER?
A Jesus-follower is one who loves God and loves others, by abiding in relationship with Jesus and through the Holy Spirit, imitating His life and His mission.
Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. Matthew 16:24 ESV
And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Matthew 4:19 ESV
WHY THE JESUS FOLLOWER STUDY?
[1] To dispel the various misconceptions of the Christian.
[2] To gain a deeper awareness and appreciation for the nature and love of God.
[3] To develop an understanding of what it means to be an authentic Jesus follower.
[4] To move the believer past an experiential faith to live a missional faith.
[5] To learn how to personally share and demonstrate the gospel - the love of God.
[6] To determine what it looks like for me to participate in God's redemptive and reconciling mission.
[7] To provide a meaningful, shaping, and defining experience for the individual who genuinely longs to imitate Jesus.
