Mission: Everyday Life: Nurturing Formation with Family

 Deuteronomy 6:6-9 ESV: And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. 8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. 9 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.  

 Ephesians 6:4 ESV: Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.  

Joshua 24:15 ESV: And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” 

 2 Timothy 1:5-7 ESV: I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you as well. 6 For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, 7 for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.  

 Proverbs 22:6 ESV: Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.  

 Acts 16:31-34 ESV: And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.” 32 And they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house. 33 And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their wounds; and he was baptized at once, he and all his family. 34 Then he brought them up into his house and set food before them. And he rejoiced along with his entire household that he had believed in God. 

Everyday Family Moments 

 Attempt to incorporate spiritual discussions routinely.  

 Willingly model faith transparently.   

 Encourage the generational transfer of wisdom and experience.   

 Commit as a family to following Christ.  

 Embrace teachable moments as they happen.
