COOL SPRING TO PARTNER WITH THE BGAV AND FOOD FOR THE HUNGRY IN NICARAGUA!

In 2022, the Baptist General Association of Virginia (BGAV) began a new partnership with Food for the Hungry (FH), an organization with a solid reputation for sustainable, mutually transforming community development. They work with local, indigenous leaders, engaging in community partnerships and child sponsorships. Their goal is “to graduate communities out of extreme poverty” based on a timeline of 7-10 years.

The BGAV then put out the invitation with the goal of pairing a Virginia Baptist Church with a specific community in a region of Nicaragua, to work alongside the Church and Community leaders in order to see real change in many areas including clean water, healthcare, education, and Gospel witness.

Cool Spring has been paired with the community of La Providencia, Nicaragua.

There are many ways you can be engaged in what God is doing in Nicaragua:

  1. Prayer –Prayer keeps us centered in God’s leadership and helps us rise in faith to the task at hand. You can pray for the community of La Providencia as well as for this partnership.
  2. Cool Spring - La Providencia partnership –You can assist La Providencia as they work toward graduating from extreme poverty. FH will facilitate mutually transformative service trips twice a year as we engage with our community, in which you can engage with community members as they work toward building a sustainable future.
  3. Child sponsor Sunday -Cool Spring is Hosting a launch Sunday on Sunday June 4 in all services. This will also include a Child Sponsorship initiative for children in La Providencia. The welfare of its children is a good indicator of a community’s health, and everyone is served when a community is able to care for its most vulnerable members. That’s why Food for the Hungry does much of its work through child sponsorships. Not only are you able to sponsor your child, you could also serve on a team and meet your child or communicate with your child through someone who is on the ground in La Providencia.
  4. Invest in sustainable change –You can donate toward a specific development project happening in this community.
