THE BLESSING
Two months ago, in our Sunday Morning Gathering, we sang the song “The Blessing” by Elevation Worship. I love this song for so many reasons. In case you’re not familiar with it, read the verse and bridge.
The Lord bless you
And keep you
Make His face shine upon you
And be gracious to you
The Lord turn His
Face toward you
And gives you peace
May His favor be upon you
And a thousand generations
And your family and your children
And their children, and their children
This song has taken the worship community by storm over the past few months. People all over the world are connecting with it and for a great reason. It is straight from scripture. The verse is directly from Numbers 6:24-26.
I have connected personally with this song in several ways. First, the lyrics allow me to sing a blessing over the congregation while they are singing this same blessing over me. In my mind, this is super cool. I love the dynamics this allows us to do as the church. Secondly, the bridge speaks about his favor being upon you and your family and children. Being a new father, I definitely resonate with that line more now than ever.
If you haven’t listened to the song, you should definitely check it out. You can find it on our CSBC Worship from Home playlist or on YouTube.
