A Gift to Remember

by Greg English on December 17, 2020

One of the questions we ask throughout the Christmas season is, “What was your favorite gift?” Which gift did you remember the most? For me, there were a few over the years, but the one I remember well was my first Huffy racing bike. It was yellow and blue, and it was perfect. It had a unique color scheme, unlike my friends.  It was my very own, and it would make me feel like a real dirt bike racer at the local track. It’s always fun to remember these things and tell the old stories that come with them.

Throughout this season we will experience the joy of giving gifts and the anticipation of receiving gifts! But as we reflect on the Christmas season, I am reminded of the greatest gift ever given. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life.” This gift of God to us is awesome! For this gift was the greatest gift ever given – life, death, and resurrection of a Savior. And it was given with the greatest motivation of all – love. Unlike gifts of the material world, this gift is always received by faith and not of ourselves and this gift is never-ending.

It’s my prayer this Christmas season, for us as Jesus followers, that our hearts will be overjoyed in reflection of the greatest gift ever given – the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ.

In wishing you a Merry Christmas, share the story of remembrance, the gift of the Gospel in deed and word with those around you. The time that you give into the lives of others is having an eternal impact!

Merry Christmas!
