Prayer with Purpose  

Thanking Prayer 

August 27, 2023

Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving. Colossians 4:2 ESV 

 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 ESV  

 Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations. Psalm 100:4-5 ESV 

 Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever! Psalm 118:1 ESV

  1. Cultivates Humility 

 

  1. Promotes Generosity. 

 A Few Grateful Prayer Practices 

 1. Begin with Thanksgiving 

 2. Count Your Blessings 

 3. Recite the Gratitude Texts 

 4.Personalize Your Thanks 

 5. Be Specific 

 6. Notice the Small Things 

 7. Express Thanks in All Circumstances: 

 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Colossians 3:17 ESV 

 Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name. Hebrews 13:15 ESV
