The Outreach Ministry at Cool Spring has as its mission to reach out to

THE RECREATION
MINISTRY |
|
|
The Recreation Ministry seeks to combine
recreation and leisure with the love of Christ by using physical
activity to share that love. The Recreation Team coordinates such
things as Fitness/Health classes, outdoor activities, UPWARD sports,
sporting events for all ages, and specialty classes. Volunteers
are utilized to staff the front desk and monitor facilities of the REC
Center during the hours of operation.
Recreation Minister
Greg English is the full-time Recreation
Minister at Cool Spring. He oversees the activities of the
Recreation Ministry and Rec Center, and plans new activities throughout
the year. Rec Center Front Desk telephone number is 746-0801.

The Rec Center
The centerpiece of the Recreation Ministry at Cool Spring is the Rec
Center. Construction of the Rec Center added a new dimension of
Christian fellowship to Cool Spring through its recreational potential
and use as a Worship Center.
Features of the Rec Center include:
-
The Rec Center is open over 75 hours a week for recreation and leisure
events. The facility is open to the public free of charge. A volunteer
staff of church members operates the Rec Center.
-
The Rec Center has a High School Regulation size basketball and volleyball court, to be
used as such, or as an open area for theatrical and musical productions,
and as a Worship Center.
-
There is a theatrical stage adjacent to the area above, including an excellent
sound and lighting system. This gives potential for musical as well as
dramatic productions. A lift gives wheelchair access to the stage.
Exercise and aerobics rooms, locker rooms, a game room, and reception
areas, and a concession stand is included as well.
-
An overhead walking/running track is around the perimeter of the basketball
court and there is an upstairs lounge.
Four additional upstairs multipurpose rooms for aerobics classes, meetings, craft
making, etc.
-
The Recreation Ministry Programs and the Rec Center itself are almost
exclusively operated through volunteer, non-staff church members.
Children's Sports Programs: The Recreation Ministry leads four main
Upward Sports leagues: Basketball, Cheerleading, Flag Football, and
Soccer. The purposes of the leagues are to teach children basic
fundamentals of the sport and to teach them basic truths about God.
Various sport camps are offered throughout the year, mainly in the
summer, including basketball and multi-sport camps. Volunteers are
needed to coach, referee, give devotionals during games, to perform
scorekeeping, and to staff the concession stand.
Adult Sports Programs: The Recreation Ministry sponsors adult
basketball leagues, men and women's softball leagues, co-ed
volleyball teams, bowling team, golf events, and an outdoor ministry
network (hunting, fishing, hiking).
Leisure Classes / Activities: The Recreation Ministry
offers periodic themed classes that include crafts, "How To" classes,
informational classes, and scrap booking. These activities are
scheduled throughout the year.
The Rec Center Website: Visit the
Rec Center Website for a listing of ongoing and planned
activities, online calendars, aerobics and facility schedules, and much
more.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH
MINISTRY |
|
|
Community Outreach is a significant function of the
Outreach Ministry, and it is directed toward individuals and families
who have never visited Cool Spring (and may not belong to or visit any
church), and toward those who have visited, but are not members of Cool
Spring Church.
Ted Tussey is the Minister of Outreach,
Facilities, and Seniors.
Some aspects of Community Outreach include:
Visitor Reception - Volunteers work with the ushers and other
teams to effectively greet and orient visitors to any church function,
including Worship Services.
Visitation - The Visitation Ministry is involved with
intentionally visiting all who have participated in any part of the
church's ministry. Visitation also includes visiting those who have
never been involved with the church.
Evangelism Training - This ministry provides training in personal
evangelism to all church members.
Family Fun Festival - The Family Fun Festival has been held in
the past as a spring outreach event for our community. Run by our church
family, the Festival includes local community group performances,
inflatable slides, bouncies, and volleyball court and rock climbing.
Volunteers are needed to man the various activities at the Festival.
