The garden will be located in the children's play area with attractive landscaping and benches. Families who wish to purchase an engraved brick in memory of a child for $50 will be given the opportunity to place an order in the near future. For more details or to volunteer, please contact Cindy Shufflebarger at 559-3034. Be sure to check out the progress of the Memory Garden Page Here.

Food Pantry Ministry

Red, yellow, orange, brown . . . just as the leaves add color to these early days of autumn, it's time to add "color" to the shelves in the Food Pantry with the many different items that are stocked to distribute to those in our community who are in need of a helping hand.

Once again we are asking the adult Sunday School classes and the AWANA groups on Wednesday night to help us fill the shelves. The food donation cartons are located in the Parlor, Welcome Center and Children's Building. Your generosity in giving to this important ministry is always appreciated.

Operation Christmas Child is a fun and rewarding missions project that every family can participate in. The gifts given will reach children around the world and allow them to hear the Good News of the Savior, God's greatest gift. Experience the power of a simple gift!

Turkey & Trimmings Ministry for Essex Village
November 22

The Annual Thanksgiving "Turkey & Trimmings" Ministry for Essex Village will take place on November 22 at the Essex Village Child Care Center, 407 East Laburnum Avenue. Essex Village is an urban, public housing project located in Henrico County for economically disadvantaged families, often consisting of a female head of household. This ministry allows local churches and individuals the opportunity to help families in need by sharing God's love and providing Thanksgiving dinner and Bibles.

Volunteers and donations will be needed to make this a successful project. Donations can be made to Cool Spring with "Essex Village" noted on the memo line. 500 turkeys are needed for distribution at a cost of approximately $10 each. Volunteers are needed to give out the turkeys and trimmings on November 22 from 8:30 am - 12 noon. If interested, please contact Ed Weis at 746-8074.

Search Teams Update

Cool Spring Cemetery

The care and maintenance of the Cool Spring Cemetery is funded solely by the donations of those who have family and loved ones buried there. There is no financial support by the church's general fund. Donations may be made payable to Cool Spring with memo "Cemetery Fund."

Share Your Life with Students!

The Student Ministry is looking for people who have a heart for students and would love to be part of watching God change and shape their lives forever. Not a teacher? No problem! Not a parent of a student? That's okay, too! If you would like to learn more about the opportunities available in our Student Ministry, please contact Rachel Phillips (middle school) at 746-8973 or Bryan Dupuis (high school or college age) at 746-1039.

Lord's Supper Team Needs Help

We are looking for couples or pairings of individuals who would enjoy working together on our Lord's Supper Ministry Team to help prepare the elements for communion throughout the year. You would serve two or three times a year based on your availability. We would welcome your consideration in getting connected in service through this avenue of ministry. Our team leaders would be delighted to talk with you further about how you can be a part of this exciting team ministry. Please call John & Kathy Terpay at 569- 1630 or jkterpay@comcast.net

Reception Desk Volunteers Needed

A smile for a visitor, a cheerful greeting for a telephone caller and pleasant instructions for a delivery person - these are all very important duties of a Cool Spring volunteer week-day receptionist. Positive first impressions are critical in helping our church make a difference in the lives of those in our community. That's why our receptionists are such important people!

Does this sound like a position for you? Our desire is to staff two people a day - 9:00 am to 12:30 pm OR 12:30 to 4:00 pm. We currently have eight very capable, faithful volunteers and three substitutes. If you can't work every week, perhaps you can share with another person. A volunteer for Wednesdays from 12:30 - 4:00 pm is our most urgent need. For more details, please call Candace at 746-8970.

Greeters Needed

Friendly people are needed at various locations throughout the church to assist guests on Sunday mornings. Please call Peggy Hoover at 779-2086 for more information.

Cool Spring Grief Support Group

If you have lost a spouse, child, family member or friend, it may be hard for you to feel optimistic about the future right now. You've probably found that there are not many people who understand the deep hurt you feel. That's the reason for GriefShare, a special support group for people grieving the loss of someone close.

The next session, scheduled for Sunday, October 12th at 5:00 pm in room B45/47.  Due to the current construction at Cool Spring, there will be signs directing you to the meeting room. Our meetings are open to anyone in the community and you are welcome to attend any that might be helpful. This month's topic is "The Uniqueness of Grief, Part I." We will explore how the causes of and personal responses to your loved one's death affect your grief. Topics to be addressed include suicide, long term illness, murder and false guilt. Please remember that each session is self contained so that you can join us any time. If you know of someone who has not previously attended, they are more than welcome to join us.

Please contact Jerry or Patsi Deans at 559-7622 or jerry.deans@comcast.net or Darrell or Marsha Rettig at 746-2853 for more information.

  • Online Giving Now Available

Cool Spring Church now has a secure E-Giving site which makes donating a breeze.  It is simple to set up your account with a username and password, and then you can donate securely via credit card, debit card, or even directly from your bank account.  You can even designate the type of donation (general fund, building fund, etc.).  You can set up regular interval donations to be made automatically, and you can request donation reminders to be sent by Email.  You can view past donations made online as well.

  • Contact Information

Has any of your contact information changed in the past several weeks or months? Please fill out this Online Contact Information Form to help us keep in touch with you!

  • Request Offering Envelopes

Cool Spring provides convenient offering envelopes in monthly mailings to members and regular attendees. Using these envelopes helps promote consistent giving, and it helps the Church Financial Ministry keep accurate records of your giving for tax purposes.  If you are not currently receiving offering envelopes in the mail but would like to, please click here for Bette Asbury.

  • Food Lion MVP

If you have a Food Lion MVP card, a portion of your purchases can be donated to the Cool Spring Building Fund.  It is time to re-enroll for 2007.  If you have any question, call Bette at 746-8971. You have to re-enroll in the program every year by logging on to www.foodlion.com and choosing “Fundraising” or by calling 1-800-210-9569 Monday-Friday from 8 am-5 pm. You will need your Food Lion MVP number (under the bar code on the back of your card or key ring card) and then choose Cool Spring Baptist Church Building Fund.  Questions, call Bette Asbury at 746-8971.

  • RECYCLE! RECYCLE! RECYCLE!

Please bring your NEWSPAPERS to the recycling bin located in the parking lot by the cemetery fence. All proceeds go to the Cool Spring Recreation Ministry and the Gospel Jail Ministry.
