The Prayer of Jesus for You

by Bryan Dupuis on September 07, 2020

You can learn a lot about someone, by listening to the way they pray and what they pray for.  Prayer reveals what we are longing for or burdened over. You want to know what is on someone’s mind, just listen to what comes out in their prayers.

John 17 records the pray of Jesus. We are welcomed into the conversation between Jesus, the Son of God, and the God he called, Father.

This prayer is not only for his disciples, but also for those that would come after them, including you and me.

This is how Jesus ends his prayer:

“Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me.  I have made you known to them and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.” John 17: 25-26

This is the heart of Jesus; this is the summation of his passion for you and me. That you and I would know God as Jesus knows God….as Father. That we would experience the same love the Father has for His Son, and that we would know that Jesus Christ is in us.  This is the way the Father, Son, and Spirit feel about you, this is their heart for you. This is the Good News that shines light in our darkness and changes us from the inside out
