School is Cancelled FOREVER!

April Fools’ Day - a day of pranks, gags, jokes and hoaxes. Geoffrey Chaucer made the earliest recorded reference to April Fool’s Day in 1392 in his “Canterbury Tales.”

What is a fool? What does the Bible stay about foolishness? The dictionary defines fool as a person who acts unwisely or imprudently, a silly person.

The Bible has a lot to say about fools.

  • The way of fools seems right to them, but the wise listen to advice. Prov. 12:15
  • Fools fold their hands and ruin themselves.  Eccl. 4:5
  • The wise inherit honor, but foolsget only shame. Prov. 3:35

The Bible also teaches us that God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 1 Corn. 1:27

This makes me think of children. Big surprise, right?? I work in our Children’s Ministry!  Would you say kids are foolish? I would. But there are several attributes children have that put adults to shame.

Children make friends quickly. Have you watched children in a park? They can have a blast with another child they just met 15 minutes ago.

Children get over wrongs quickly. A hug, a kiss or an “I’m sorry,” and they are off on their next adventure with no hard feelings.

Children can focus on the moment more naturally by completely blocking out everything else around them.

Children are trusting. Tell them the playground slide is safe and off they go.

Children are teachable and honest - the list could go on.  At what point do adult lives become self-conscious, self-absorbed, slow to forgive, suspicious, arrogant or dishonest?

And he (Jesus) said, “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” Matt 18:3

Is there an area in your life where a little child is putting you to shame? Humble yourself and He will lift you up.
